Ethan Guo is a Young Man You Should Know
Hi it’s Leslie Harris, and I’ll definitely be sharing this one on the Happy Hour stories page. An 18 year old is going to fly 50,000 miles in the fight against cancer for Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Ethan Guo is out to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and treatment, and he’s doing that by flying through the United States, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, and Australia. At each stop, he’ll be visiting kids in local hospitals.
Ethan decided to raise money for St Jude’s when he found out his own cousin had been diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. He was inspired by his cousin’s brave battle with the disease.
Ethan will become the youngest person to fly around the world. The person who currently holds that record was 21 at the time of their flight. Ethan already holds a world record by having flown across the 48 contiguous states of the US at the tender age of 17.
Ethan also is a flight mechanic, so he’ll be able to maintain his own aircraft on his journey.
Ethan will embark on his journey on Saturday May 11th, which will last for 90 days, across seven continents. His goal is to raise $1 million for St Jude children’s Research Hospital.
